Students should bring a picnic lunch and drink.
Sessions cover a wide aspect of theatre and art from acting to stage make up, costuming, and set design.
The students will learn stage terms and blocking during musical theatre exercises and games. They will gain in self-confidence, poise, and self-discipline.
There is a hands-on theatre make up class, with costumes, props for skits, and puppets. There will be improvisation time, learn the mime walk, and read scenes from Cinderella, Snow White, to Charlie Brown; and West Side Story.
Everyday there will be an arts opportunity relating to theatre. Design costuming, create fantasy make up, draw scenes and sets. Students should come dressed to move easily,

About the Instructor:
Penny Knobel-Besa is a fine arts photographer, playwright, and director. She was named Maryland Photographer of the Year, received a national award from the Big Sisters-Big Brothers, and her photos often appear in the national award winning literary magazine the “Antietam Review”. She’s a directed and produced a children’s musical, “Under Your Pillow” Off-Broadway in New York and establishing a theatre arts academy her in Cumberland.
She founded Maryland Theatre Arts Company (MTA Co) in 1978 in Baltimore and moved it here when the arts community requested her to create a “Children’s theatre Project” . As a result she produce children’s plays at the Cumberland Theatre 1995, Palace Theatre 1996, and at the Embassy Theatre 1997-98. Most recently she has become known for her series of classes for adults who enjoy spending time with their camera; “The Art of Photography” held at her own “Sanctuary Studios”. The next session will begin in mid-September 2010.
